Luminy® PLA for rigid packaging

Trusted bioplastics used to sustainable packaging materials

Biobased and industrially compostable rigid packaging

Luminy® PLA is a perfect fit for rigid food packaging thanks to its transparency, high stiffness, good flavor barrier, ease of printing, excellent oil and grease resistance, and sustainable end-of-life options. It can be processed on most existing production lines requiring little to no modifications.

Why Luminy® PLA?

For rigid packaging, Luminy® PLA can be easily processed using injection molding, thermoforming, and Form-Fill-Seal (FFS) production lines.

The most common Luminy® PLA grades used for rigid packaging are:

  • For thermoforming and FFS: L175,  LX575, and LX975
  • For injection molding: L105, L130, and LX530

The sugarcane used to produce Luminy® PLA absorbs CO2 as it grows. Not only is the origin of Luminy® PLA sustainable, but its end-of-life options include industrial composting, methanization, and recycling. The compostability of Luminy® PLA is ideal for food contact applications because it diverts food waste from landfills.
