Trusted biobased materials for reducing carbon footprints
Luminy® PLA reduces a product's carbon footprint by up to 75%
Our specially developed Luminy®PLA and PLA compounds are ideal for more sustainable appliances, automotive parts, bank and gift cards, toys, cosmetic and healthcare packaging, labware, and medical devices
Why Luminy® PLA?
While commonly associated with packaging and other disposable applications, Luminy® PLA can be as durable as fossil-based plastics like ABS, PS, and PP compounds. Unlike their fossil-based counterparts, biobased and eco-friendly PLA is made from annually renewable resources that support business’ sustainability goals.
The most common Luminy® PLA grades used for durable applications are L105, L130, and LX175.
By itself, Luminy® PLA offers good processability, scratch resistance, dimensional stability, high gloss, and excellent surface finish. With our own innovations in compounding technology and formulation development we enhance the properties of PLA which improves heat and impact resistance.
"By combining innovative technology with renewable materials, we are addressing the urgent need for sustainability in the healthcare sector and paving the way for a greener future."
Luminy® PLA helps innovative bottles reduce waste in the single-use medical industry
The U.S. healthcare sector generates 5.9 million tons of waste annually, over half from single-use plastics. Innovative Bottles pioneers eco-friendly vials and medical devices, using Luminy® PLA. Their FDA-approved products cut production energy by 42% compared to their fossil-based counterparts. They aim to reduce waste and restore the environment by reimagining plastic with renewable solutions.
